Sixth Form Geography

Bella Trobe (Lower Sixth)

On Friday 3rd May, the Lower Sixth IB geographers visited the River Kym in Cambridgeshire to study the characteristics of the river channel as it moves downstream. This was a joint venture with Bedford School.

We visited various locations along the River Kym, where we learnt and were able to practice a range of sampling and data collection methods, to test for river depth, velocity and more. The results we collected will be used as data for our geography internal assessments, as we examine the Bradshaw river model, and whether modern human actions on the environment have influenced its validity.

Ms March (Head of Geography) said: “On their return to BGS the girls will now use the data collected to complete their Internal assessment for IB Geography, 20% of their IB Geography course. The day was very successful and we even managed to escape the rain.”
