Victoria Pinney (Year 10)
On Friday 10th May, the Careers department were delighted to welcome Bedford High School alumna Jasmine Banghard (2006) for a Lunchbox Lecture on how philosophy can provide a good basis for a career in law.
Jasmine, who trained as a Barrister and is now Head of Regional Airports in the Civil Service, spoke passionately about why she decided to study Philosophy at university. She stressed the importance of pursuing subjects you enjoy as well as recognising what your strengths and weaknesses are, and using this to choose subjects and a career that you will enjoy and excel at.
Jasmine explained how Philosophy can help with any subject you choose to take further, and knowing how to give and structure an argument can support any path you choose to take. It was an excellent opportunity to consider how important skills based subjects are and how transferable they can be to a range of interesting careers.
