During Monday lunchtime, the new Service Team held its first Lunch Club for elderly residents in the local community. The Lunch Club provides an opportunity for Sixth Form students and elderly residents to socialise with each other over a shared lunch.

Hosted in the Compass Room at BGS, the initiative is an important part of the Service Team’s work, as older adults are at an increased risk of being socially isolated; they allow us to give back to members of the wider community.

Activities included a quiz, a raffle and musical performances, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed by the guests. The guests told us that they look forward to attending the lunch club afternoons, as they enjoy being able to interact with people of a different age group and sharing their life experiences with us.
