Following her busy examination schedule, talented triathlon star Bronwyn Tagg (Upper Sixth) took to the course of the British Sprint Triathlon Championships in Nottingham (Saturday 15th June).

Due to the persistent rainfall over the prevous week in the Nottingham area, the Nottingham races were held as duathlons in a run, bike, run format. The Championship races consisted of a 1.5km (1 lap) run 1, 18.2km (5 laps) bike and 4.5km (3 laps) run two.

Despite the change, the event was still an exciting affair with elite athletes and age groupers alike coming to Nottingham’s Victoria Embankment.

Bronwyn reflected on her race, she said: “It was a race I learnt a lot from. I went in with the aim of being in the lead or chase pack on the bike and working my hardest to stay with them.

“In the end, I made up the chase pack, we formed a strong group of 4-6, each taking turns to pull the group closer to the lead pack. Unfortunately, I blew the last run and it made for a very stubborn last 5km where my head wasn’t quite what I’ve been training it to be. But the lessons I learnt were more valuable than a perfect race will ever be.”

BGS and the wider community wish Bronwyn the best of luck in the Cardiff triathlon this Sunday.
