Holly Stuart and Nivashini Thayaparan (Year 5)
On Thursday 13th June, Year 5 came into school dressed as Ancient Greeks. This day was an amazing experience for all of us.
Firstly, we were taken to the market in Athens by our important visitor. In the market, there were nine stalls, each stall was unique and there was a wide range of activities that we could complete. We used objects like clay, oil, wax, tiles, Greek foods (olives and a variety of spices), paint, tools, wood, matches etc. Throughout the day, we were told what was going on in the interesting battle between the Athens and Persia.
After lunch, to celebrate Athen’s victory over Sparta, we were invited to the Theatre. The selected servants served a lovely Greek feast of bread, olives, cheese, apple and pear slices and delicious cake including wine that we raised to Dionysus.
We split into groups and performed three plays and a dance and at the same time though we had the opportunity to explore the wonders of Ancient Greek times.
