Miss Dawson (Biology Teacher, CAS & Service Coordinator)

On Monday, Year 7 held a heart themed craft sale in order to raise awareness and funds for the British Heart Foundation.

The craft sale came at the end of a series of form time sessions looking at different charities that the girls wanted to support and why. Each form put together a presentation about their chosen charity and suggested an event to support this charity.  Each Years 7 and 8 form then voted for the best presentation, where 7CAB and their charity of the British Heart Foundation was selected.

The girls then spent time making various crafts, including origami hearts, jewellery, keyrings and dreamcatchers to be sold. The crafts proved very popular with staff and students, and so far £179.04 has been raised from their sale.

Isabelle Cochrane (Year 7) said: “I am very proud of all we have worked towards and achieved. The craft sale was a great success as we raised over £150 for the British Heart Foundation. I am amazed and grateful for all of the effort put in by the staff and all for making so many amazing crafts and promoting it with posters and emails. However, I am the most thankful to all of the people who bought some homemade crafts and British Heart Foundation merchandise, you have all been a great support to the charity.”
