On a sunny Wednesday morning, the Bedford International Athletic Stadium was awash with colour with girls supporting their Houses with great enthusiasm. It was just wonderful to see every individual student in the Senior School taking part in at least one event.
As ever, we were witness to some sterling performances from our athletes with 11 records being broken by the following athletes:
Faith Adeyemi-Abere - (Year 8) Junior Long Jump (4.50m)
Jada Asein (Year 8) – Junior Shot Put (11.06m)
Maddie Axford (Year 11) – Senior Discus (27.40m)
Megan Brook (Year 8) – Junior Discus (23.30m)
Emily Dunning (Year 11) – Senior High Jump (1.65m)
Rosie Foster-Glennon (Year 7) – Junior 1500m (4m 57s)
Sophie Forbes-Laird (Year 9) – Inter 200m (26.26s)
Megan Howlett (Year 8) – Junior Javelin (27.42m)
Etienne Maughan (Year 9) – Inter Hurdles (11.28s) and Inter Long Jump (5.14m)
Natalie Simmons (Year 9) – Inter 1500m (4m 58s)
For the overall competition, Hepburn won by 22 points, with Chanel and Austen finishing second and third respectively. Chanel also won the Years 7-8 events, while Hepburn were victorious in the Years 9-10 events, and Hepburn also earned bragging rights in the Senior competition.
Mrs Mason-Mcleod (PE Teacher), said: “It was such a wonderful event with all the girls and staff embracing the occasion. Seeing so many girls competing with real passion and enthusiasm for their Houses was lovely and the PE department would like to say a huge well done to everyone who was a part of another successful Senior School Sports Day!”
