Mrs Woolley (Biology Teacher)

On Sunday, between 9.30am and lunchtime, a BGS team of staff and Upper Sixth Form students covered a combined total of 97.24 miles of hills in hot and humid conditions at the Hitchin Hard Half Marathon (5/10km).

Linking to the Girls Leadership Group Respect (yourself, others and the environment) campaign about highlighting mental health and wellbeing, the keen runners were raising funds for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The Bedford CAMHS team support and treat young people with emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties in Bedford and the surrounding area.

There were a number of runners for whom this was their first competitive run, first half marathon or certainly the first time they had competed in this event. The grit and determination was impressive and the sense of achievement significant! It was a great opportunity for all runners to move out of their comfort zones whilst fundraising for CAMHS and highlighting the important service they provide in the local community.

Thank you very much to all those who have sponsored us so far. You can still sponsor us post-race here.
