Sixth Form Lacrosse

Mrs Mason-Mcleod (Director of Sport)

On Wednesday 2nd October, the BGS 1st lacrosse team played the University of Cambridge in the beautiful sunlit grounds at the back of Newnham College.

The BGS students felt up to the challenge and were ready to compete against some of the very best university players. Cambridge had enough players to field a few teams, so there was plenty of fresh legs from their point of view. However, this did not deter BGS, who excelled in all areas of the pitch.

At half-time BGS had been struggling to gain possession off the centre draw and as a result Cambridge led by five goals. However, BGS dug deep and managed to guard the ball more carefully, allowing them to claw this goal difference back. With the scores equal at 8-8 and only a minute left, Maddie Axford (Lower Sixth) managed to find the space to drive the ball into the back of the net. BGS finished the game 9-8 winners overall!
