Eleanor Whybrow (Year 11)
Last Friday Year 11 Art students visited the Tate Modern in London in order to seek inspiration for their coursework. We found many variations of artwork that not only inspired us, but it also gave us a new outlook on how broad the world of art is.
During our visit, we studied different forms including photography, still life and abstract paintings, animations and filmography; seeing all of these artists express themselves in different ways gave us more ideas on how we can express ourselves through our artwork during our lessons.
Mrs Lugsden, Head of Art and Textiles, said: “The visit was a wonderful experience where the students were able to spend time sourcing inspirational artists from their coursework. The monumental water fountain in the Turbine Hall by artist Kara Walker was a striking start to the visit, and a source of interested to all. It was a super trip and one that I know girls will benefit from as they move their research forward into more personal directions.”
