Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)
On Friday 29th November, our Year 4 inquirers travelled to the British Museum in London. The Unit of Inquiry this half term has focused on how past civilisations shape present-day cultures.
The girls had already explored the concept of a civilisation, and discovered facts about Ancient civilisations around the world. They then focused on one past civilisation that interested them the most. The trip gave them many opportunities to observe artefacts such as pottery and jewellery that gave them an insight into ancient cultural practices.
The girls used their iPads to photograph important objects, including religious symbols, and many of them created iBook’s adding information as they explored the exhibits. It really was a fantastic experience and we were so proud of the way they used the opportunity to become more knowledgeable about their chosen civilisation.
Lexi Ferris (Year 4) said: “I really liked feeling the real Roman coins, and finding out more about how the Romans lived.”
