Last Sunday saw a team of 13 Cadets heading to the Shuttleworth Collection for the RAF Air Squadron Trophy competition for the Eastern Area. The team was formed of 11 boys from Bedford School, and two girls from BGS; Anika Dutta and Anoushka Harris (both Year 11).

The competition was broken down into six sections: air rifle shooting, command tasks, RAF knowledge, aircraft recognition, first aid and drill. The team performed best in RAF knowledge, placing 5th overall.

The drill competition was the final task of the day. Turned-out in their best-pressed uniforms and polished boots, our cadets did their best to stay in formation and remembered which command related to which sequence. Throughout the day, the team showed a huge improvement from training. Spending all day either outside or in the hangers was not a particularly warm way to spend their Sunday, but the cadets all conducted themselves very well.

The team placed 13th out of the 18 schools that entered, which is a great result for a relatively newly formed team!
