Mrs Woodhouse (Year 6 Teacher)

This half term, 6W went on a couple of virtual reality tours to help them to better understand human migration and the challenges, risks and opportunities involved.

Using the WithIn Virtual Reality app on their iPads, the girls were shown around the Zaatari Refugee Camp by Sidra, a 12 year old girl, who explained amongst other things what her classroom looks like, how her family cooked meals and the place she currently calls home. The camp is home to thousands of Syrians who have fled the violence.

Later on in the term using Google Expeditions, the girls toured around other key sites such as Ellis Island. The tours helped them get a real sense of perspective; one of our three key concepts this half term along with causation and change.
