Continuing with the school’s various community engagement projects, the Years 7 and 8 girls have been raising awareness for the school charity FACES, through numerous initiatives.
On Friday 6th December, Year 7 spent the afternoon making Christmas cards and filling Christmas boxes with toys for families supported by the charity. Year 8 had Monday afternoon off timetable, where they made Christmas crackers and filled Christmas hampers with food.
Phoebe Titchener (Year 7), said: “I think that the afternoon was very enjoyable, as I got to interact with other people in my year group. I am very proud to have played a part in spreading a smile for those most in need this Christmas.”
Mrs Cruse (Head of Years 7 and 8), said: “The aim has been for the girls to really understand the charity and to give something to the local community. The girls should be so proud of their achievements because they will make some people have a very happy Christmas. A huge thank you to everyone from across the BGS community, who kindly donated items. A total of (number) will be delivered to FACES.”
FACES (Family and Children’s Early-help Services) was selected by the students as our charity for this academic year, with non-school uniform days and events across the year raising funds for and awareness of the charity. Find out more here.
