Mrs Whomsley (Head of Year 5)

On Thursday, Year 5 were tasked with the challenge of creating a Play in a Day. The girls welcomed visitors from Just Add Kids Productions Ltd to lead them in dance and music workshops as well as an acting workshop from Oli Jackson. Oli has starred in School of Rock and has recently finished performing in a West End run of Les Miserables.

With just the morning and afternoon to learn and rehearse their parts, the girls put on a wonderful performance to parents in the afternoon.  The play was specifically written for children and focused on the theme of growth mind-set. The girls’ enthusiasm for the day’s activities certainly reflected that!  

Gilly Brown, Dame Alice Harpur School Alumna (2001) and Director of Just Add Kids explains: “the purpose of the day is for all the girls to have an equal role in creating the play. It’s a truly inclusive way of developing their resilience and performance confidence.”
