Antarctica – The Ice World

Sixth Form Geography

On Thursday 23rd January, the inaugural meeting of the Harpur Trust Geographical Society took place at Bedford School. Held in the Great Hall, local and fellow Harpur Trust schools were in attendance and enjoyed an interactive lecture with David Edwards about climate change in Antarctica.  He also talked about the future of energy production giving the girls an insight into a course he gave at the University of Glasgow where he was a lecturer.

David Edwards is a university tutor on natural hazards, environmental sustainability, and renewable energy. All these topics feature highly in all specifications and so this was a great opportunity for the girls studying GCSE, A Level and IB Geography. Plenty of information to take away and digest.  As the girls build up to their final examinations it is information gathered at such events that can really inspire and motivate.
