Frau Arrowsmith (Teacher of German)

On Thursday 5th March, the Senior School were treated to a lively and humorous play Das Schlimmste Hotel (The Worst Hotel) – performed entirely in German by Onatti Productions.

Herr und Frau Schröder run the Hotel Hexenhut. They have not had a guest at their hotel for months, so they are excited when a man arrives wanting a room for the night. However, their excitement is short lived when they read in a newspaper of an escaped criminal fitting the description of their new guest. They try to act normally while they await the arrival of the police, but their fears get the better of them as they try to protect themselves. Then another guest arrives and confusion abounds amongst a plethora of mistaken identities.

This was a crazy, funny and extremely entertaining piece of theatre with plenty of audience participation, which was enjoyed by all in Years 8-11. It is very rewarding for the girls to find that they can follow a whole play in German.

Morgan Forbes (Year 8) said: “I thought the German play was really good and very funny. It was educational because I learnt new words and saw all the vocabulary we have learnt so far in action.  The storyline was very entertaining. I really enjoyed it.”
