We are so proud of the resilience of our alumnae, students, staff and #BGSCommunity who are using their voice to support and campaign for charitable organisations during these challenging times.
Inspirational sisters, Amelia (Year 8) and Evie Mead (Year 5), alongside their mum, have been busy using their textiles skills to sew wash bags and headbands for Key Workers who are currently working on the front line. They have also provided scrubs for GP practices and care homes in Milton Keynes, Bedford and Bucks. View photos here.
Anna Jenkin (Upper Sixth) and her mum Mrs Jenkin (Biology teacher), have been doing incredible work in their community. They organised a flower, homemade jam and marmalade sale, using flowers that weren’t sold in shops, and would usually be thrown away. In total they have raised £1187.00. The proceeds from the sale have gone towards the Dine with us Community Larder, a service that collects food that would usually go to waste from various providers around Bedford and Milton Keynes. The funds donated by will help this vital service going. Dine with us Community Larder is an organisation that is linked to Fare Share, find out more here.
BGS alumnae, Betsy Banks (2017) and former Head Girl, Anna Hunt (2017) have organised charitable initiatives during lockdown.
Betsy is raising funds for charities that are very close to her heart: CHUMS and MIND BLMK. She has created a challenge by which you list 5 things you do to make yourself feel good (FIVE TO FEEL GOOD). Find out how you can take part here.
Anna, a student at Durham University, recently took on a running challenge for the NHS Charities Together, with members of her university netball club, they ran a combined distance of 1407km in just seven days! Support here
