Mrs Mason-McLeod (Director of Sport)

Celebrating sports colours has always been a big occasion on the sporting calendar. Despite not having the opportunity to come together to present the sports colours at school, we still want to highlight the incredible sporting achievements over the past year.

Some of the stand out team successes this year include The U13A lacrosse team being crowned county champions, The U14A lacrosse team finished in the top 16 at the National Schools Lacrosse Finals, the U11 netball team finished 2nd in the IAPS regional round and Maddie Axford (Lower Sixth) and Florence Miller (Year 11) both represented their National Age Group for England Hockey.

This year we have seen 16 girls get full senior sports colours, 27 receive half-senior colours, 29 receive full junior colours and 25 receive half-junior colours in a variety of sports at BGS.

Holly Smith (Lower Sixth) joins our new Sports Captain Maddie Axford (Lower Sixth), with full senior colours for three different sports, hockey, lacrosse and athletics. She also receives a prestigious silver pin badge for this amazing achievement.

Congratulations to Florence Miller (Year 11), Katie Lunn (Upper Sixth), Christine Pearson (Upper Sixth) and Victoria Brakenbury (Upper Sixth) who have all gained two full senior colours in their chosen sports. Lulu Donaghy (Year 10) has had an outstanding 2019/2020 and has received junior full colours for hockey, lacrosse and swimming. A further six girls in Year 10 received two junior full colours and one junior half colours in their chosen sports, well done to Ruby Adams, Amy Hall, Ellie Castell, Aimee Hughes, Annabelle Sivills and Rebecca Turner.
