Mrs Morgan (Senior School Eco Co-ordinator)
A new academic year brings new opportunities, and at BGS, we place the work of the School’s student-lead Eco Council with high regard as we look to recruit 2020-21 Eco representatives.
Over the past 10 years, BGS has successfully retained its Eco Schools Green Flag award in recognition of our continued efforts to create a sustainable school environment, much of the work attributed to the Eco Council. Being part of the Eco Council allows for students to not only raise awareness and improve the School’s environmental credentials but to develop valuable life skills such as leadership as well as improve well-being and increase confidence.
All ideas for the various projects and campaigns come from the students, and although we are having to adapt the way things are done at the moment, there is still much which can be achieved amongst our school community. We encourage all with a passion for the environment and a wish to make a difference, to come forward and join the challenge of ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
Autumn Term Eco Council representatives are now sought, open to Years 10 and above, with meetings to be held online and Year Group specific tasks undertaken. First meeting will be Wednesday 7th October (First Lunch).
