We’re super proud to announce that talented writer, Ishani Patel (Year 11), has been chosen for publication in a book showcasing young adults’ work, called Trapped – UK Edition.
Ishani’s piece, Voices In My Head, was entered into the prestigious Young Writers Competition. This year’s challenge was to write a mini saga, a story told in just 100 words on the theme of trapped. Ishani’s published piece will also remain in the National Archives of the British Library forever!
Mrs Hoar (English teacher) said: “What an inspiration! I am delighted with Ishani’s success and her short story, Voices in My Head, was an absolute pleasure to read. We will be uploading her creativity onto our Write On blog and look forward to hearing more from Ishani in the future.”
Voices in My Head
Hello? Can you Hear us? Help us.
They’ve come back again. I know they have. They always do.
2.25am. I’m awake, hot and sweaty, bedsheets sprawled everywhere. It’s still pitch-black outside.
I frantically stumble out of bed, gasping at the cold touch of the floors beneath me/
Hello?
“Quiet!” I shout, then quickly cover my mouth for the echo of my own voice in the empty apartment felt strange.
It’s okay, we won’t judge.
They never shut up. The voices won’t be quiet. The monsters don’t sleep under my bed, they’re inside my head. Trapped inside my head.
