Mrs McKinnell (Music Teacher)
The Music Department’s latest release went out yesterday: An Informal Lunchtime Concert by members of the Senior School Community. The response from our girls to my invitation to perform in this concert was amazing, with so many girls wishing to participate that we have quite an extensive waiting list for our next Lunchtime Concert.
Ordinarily, when we are in school, these events are held in our Assembly Hall, but with a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. We tried to retain this informality within the remote version of the concert, with girls performing music from a real variety of genres, including musical theatre, popular music and classical music, including some of their own arrangements. It is fantastic to have such a range of instruments performing, including more unusual ones such as the mandolin, and the harp.
Our mandolinist’s performance also includes her accompanying herself on the piano! Well done to Anna Cooke (Lower Sixth) for being so imaginative and so savvy with her use of technology. This concert is also a particularly useful opportunity for those girls who are preparing for instrumental exams, or for completing performance coursework due to its timing within the school year. It is great to see performances right through the age range, from Years 7 up to year 13.
We very much hope that you enjoy watching the concert HERE.
