Mr Potter (Director of Digital Strategy)

On Wednesday, Year 10 were given the opportunity of attending a lecture on Why more females are studying Computer Science, hosted by the University of Sheffield and Microsoft's Amy Boyd (Cloud Developer, AI and Machine Learning).

The students listened to current members from the University of Sheffield’s Computer Science faculty talk about their experiences of being a woman studying Computer Science. The speakers provided some valuable hints and tips on how to get into the tech industry.

Amy Boyd also talked about ways to push yourself and using your skills to advance in large technology companies like Microsoft. We also reflected on the fact that many of the Year 10s have recently been enjoying studying robotics and machine learning at lunchtimes, and how trying out new technologies like this could give you a competitive edge for whatever they want to achieve in the future.
