Mr Castro (Head of Swimming)

Saturday 16th October saw the return of the first British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships since the lockdowns imposed by COVID.

Held at the University of Bath, the competition consisted of a swim and run of varying distances depending on your age group. The two events are separated by a break and the faster the athletes go in each discipline equates to more points they earn. The total number of points are added together and the final positions are achieved.

The team put in tremendous performances and should be extremely proud. Congratulations to Megan Barnicoat who placed 7th overall with the 5th fastest swim out of over 100 students. Jessie Parrish performed a fantastic run and finished 47th. Charlotte Brakenbury had very consistent positions across both the swim and run events to place 21st. Competing in a very strong age group were Izzy Jackson and Gabby Woodroffe-Gomez who finished 26th and 31st.

It was a brilliant day out at the Sports Training Village and some of the students had the opportunity to try laser shooting, an event which is part of the Modern Pentathlon.
