It’s been an impressive end to the golf season for rising star, Roisin Scanlon (Year 9), who has now cemented her place as one of the top up and coming golfers in the UK.
Roisin’s latest success was a runner-up finish at the prestigious R&A Under 16 Amateur Championship, which attracts the world’s leading junior talents, and is perhaps one of her best achievements in an already impressive breakout season.
At the beginning of the competition, she opened up with a 72 in the first round which led the first day. On day two, she shot 74 and fell back to tied 3rd place. In the final round, Roisin closed her round holing a 50ft putt for par and a final round of 72, +2 for the tournament. This score was the clubhouse lead until Rosie Bee-Kim finished her round with a birdie to take the title with Roisin on her own in 2nd place overall.
With only a day’s rest, Roisin was again competing for BGS in the Bedfordshire County Schools Championships held at South Bedfordshire Golf Club. Roisin retains both her Under 15 and 18 titles and will now go onto the regional and national championships next year
What an incredible season, many congratulations Roisin!
