Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)
At the beginning of October, Mrs Howe (Head of the Junior School) held an assembly to introduce Black History Month to the Junior School.
Our newly formed Diversity & Inclusion Action Group took this opportunity to launch a competition for the girls to research and draw a small portrait of a person on a banner they felt had had a positive influence in society. It certainly proved to be a difficult competition to judge, as so many of the girls from Years 3 to 6 entered some wonderful banners.
Finally, they managed to place the banners in 3rd to first place for each year group. Entries ranged from influential people from history such as Martin Luther King Jr. to Mae Carol Jemison, who was the first black woman to fly into space. It really was a joy to see so many super portraits and each entry will now be displayed in the Randle Hall Foyer for everyone to celebrate.
Winners from each year group:
Sienna Grant (3T) – Serena Williams.
Aarna Naran (4AB) – Carter Woodson.
Ruby Timms (5F) - Martin Luther King Jr.
Flavia Genovese (6I) – Victor Glover.
