Mrs Lugsden (Head of Art and Textiles)
On Monday 8th November, Year 10 Fine Art students had the opportunity to take part in a one-day creative workshop. They spent half the day developing a ceramic piece inspired by the drawings and paintings of Ben Nicholson, exploring positive and negative shapes to construct a slab sculpture.
The students worked for the rest of the day developing their observational skills, initially producing experimental drawings inspired by Patrick Heron, and then a more sustained drawing where they were given tuition on how to set up an easel, measure from objects and construct an accurately observed response.
The work the students developed was wonderful, and will be pulled together into their coursework unit over the next few weeks.
