Mrs Martin (Head of Year 3)

Since returning for the Summer Term, Year 3 have been investigating the purpose of organisations as their first line of inquiry into Organisations are created to solve problems and support human endeavour and enterprise. Initially they were tasked to identify organisations which they belong to, then they have further researched one organisation common to everyone  - Bedford Girls’ School. We have met a plethora of staff over the last two weeks, who have explained what their role is, why they joined the BGS community and what the purpose of their role was within our organisation. The girls used a collectively written definition to inspire their questions and made deep connections between the role of every member of staff and the purpose of the organisation.

Through this excellent linking, the girls have thought about some of the issues that organisations face, for example, if the Green Kitchen were unable to feed them! Our next line of inquiry will look at issues in further depth and think about strategies for problem solving within an organisation to enable success.

We are always astounded by the depth of their questioning, which has been reflected by the members of staff who have been to meet them.
