On Tuesday, 6C explored the parts of circles by taking their learning outside. They were tasked with creating a circle with a radius of 30cm, a concentric circle with a diameter of 10cm more and had to label all the parts to include: radius, diameter, circumference, centre point, arc, chord, tangent, segment and sector.
Within no time at all, all the students could confidently identify the parts of the circle and solve problems associated with it.
The girls spotted links to other areas of maths with one Year 6 student saying: ‘Oh, it’s like algebra because d=2r.’ The rains then fell and started to smudge the wonderful work so we may keep our work on statistics and pie charts in the classroom.”
