Miss Dawson (Biology Teacher)

This term, Year 6 have moved on to a new Science topic – Space. We began by looking at our own Solar System and the planets in it.  For their first task, students were assigned a planet to research important factual information about, such as the surface temperature range, orbital and rotational period and key attractions such as volcanoes and craters. They then used these facts to produce a creative Space travel agency brochure to encourage adventurous travellers to visit their planet.

With colourful graphics and 5* reviews from SpaceAdvisor raving about the -200oC temperatures on Neptune meaning you’re guaranteed to not get sunburnt, the fact that it rains diamonds on Uranus, so you can get rich… if you can afford the space flight there, and marketing Venus as the perfect place for a honeymoon as it is named after the Roman goddess of love, despite its toxic atmosphere of carbon dioxide and sulphuric acid, the students persuasive writing and marketing skills were definitely put to the test!
