Whole School Rowing

Miss Huckle (Head Rowing Coach)

On Saturday 11th June 2022, over 50 rowers represented BGS on home water at Star Regatta.

The event, hosted by Star Rowing Club, attracts junior, university and senior club crews from across the country. With the weather on our side, and the sun shining, our rowers certainly did not disappoint. Team BGS reached five finals, and took the title in three events. Alongside our victories, many of our rowers competed in small boats (singles and doubles) for the first time, putting the skills we worked so hard on through the winter into practice. Star Regatta is the final race this season that sees the whole Boat Club compete on the same day and it was fantastic to yet again hear the BGS roar from the river banks as our crews battled down the course!

A huge well done to everybody who competed at Star Regatta, our results were a strong example of the bright future ahead for rowing at BGS. A special mention to our winning crews; Senior Women’s IV: Chloe Howe, Anna Beckmann, Aimee King, Sienna MacFarlane and Alex Gentry, Women’s Junior 18 IV: Leonie Cooke, Corinna Murphy, Hannah Russell, Olivia Murray and Taty Stockwell and Women's Junior 15 VIII: Jess Wiggs, Ellie Mullan, Evie Hayward, Aisling Fitzpatrick, Emily Dyall, Martha Ibbott, Lydia Henry, Elyse Vickers and Licia Cacioppo.

We now look forward to seeing our First VIII compete at Henley Women’s Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta Qualifiers over the coming week, and our junior crews head to Peterborough Regatta to enjoy some more multi-lane regatta racing. Thank you to all of our supporters for their continued support of rowing at BGS.
