Student Voice led a fantastic assembly on Monday morning all about Anti-Bullying Week 2022 and this year’s theme – Reach Out!’
In the assembly, our reps were clear about how bullying affects millions of lives and can leave us feeling hopeless. However, we learnt that if we challenge it, we can change it, and it starts by reaching out!
Whether it’s in school, at home, in the community or online, the girls were keen to encourage members of the BGS community to reach out and show each other the support we need. This could mean reaching out to someone you trust if you need to talk, reaching out to someone you know is being bullied, or reaching out and considering a new approach. And it doesn’t stop with young people. From teachers to parents and influencers to politicians, we all have a responsibility to help each other reach out, and the girls enjoyed sharing photos of different members of BGS staff that anyone can talk to if they need help!
After talking about how to reach out, Student Voice also launched two competitions linking to #OddSocksDay. The first involves the girls in the JS designing their own odd sock, whilst the second is the girls sending in a photo of themselves in an odd pair. Not only will this raise awareness for Anti-Bullying Week, but it will also earn those that enter house points and a chance to see their work or their photo on our Student Voice board.
