Safer Internet Day is marked annually on 7th February. The theme for 2023 is “Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online.”
At BGS we’ve made time to start conversations in our classrooms and listen to our students about their lives online.
Junior School Captain Anna Mathews, from the Girls’ Leadership Group led an engaging assembly to Years 3-6, and in the Senior School tutor groups were introduced to the theme via a video and a selection of different conversation activities led by Ms Davies, E-Safety Coordinator.
The best way to keep your children safe online is to make talking about what we do online a part of normal conversation. The NSPCC has some great practical tips to help you start a conversation, talk about difficult topics and how to respond when your child says something worrying.
They also offer a 10-minute digital training for parents and carers - Listen Up, Speak Up - to help you tackle those tricky situations.
