On Wednesday 14th June, BGS was delighted to host a friendly chess competition with Bedford School.

The competition showcased the impressive skills and strategic thinking of the participating students, creating an atmosphere of intense concentration and friendly rivalry. Throughout the matches, spectators witnessed exciting moves, thrilling checkmates and admirable sportsmanship.

The event's success not only allowed for the students to showcase their chess abilities, but also created a platform for them to engage in friendly conversations and exchange valuable tips and strategies that extended beyond the chessboard.

We eagerly anticipate organising a termly event that brings both schools together, fostering an environment where students can engage in friendly competition against each other in the future.

Thank you to all the students and staff who participated and showed their support during the event. A special mention goes to Sixth Formers Sarah Javid and Faith Adeyemi-Abere, who consistently lend their support to the Chess Club. Their dedication is greatly valued and plays a crucial role in its success.
