By Mrs Whomsley (Head OF Year 5)
Our curious Year 5 pupils voyaged to the Space Centre last week to further their inquiry into space and the universe, as part of their ongoing Unit of Inquiry, How the World Works. It was a fantastic day as they ventured into space to learn about our solar system, the rich history of space travel, and the daily lives of astronauts in space.
Our enthusiastic explorers become more knowledgeable about the planets and their unique features as well as being inspired by the history of risk-taking astronauts and their ground-breaking missions. Through this journey into the vastness of space and discovery, the trip not only answered their questions but also sparked fresh inquiries about what lies beyond our planet, as we returned to school with further questions to research about the universe and the history of space exploration.
Ava (5CS) said: "I liked how we could explore whatever we were interested in. I particularly enjoyed the Planetarium show as it explained more about astronauts and has made me much more interested to find out more about space!”
Sophie (5B) reflected: “I liked that there was so much to learn about the dangers of space and how we could prepare ourselves to launch into space. The Planetarium taught us how fit we need to be to be able to live in Space.”
Elizabeth (5R) added: “It was a very fun experience, learning more about space. It was one of the best trips I've been on!”
Ekam 5W commented: “I loved how we could look at the Planetarium - it was really cool! I liked looking at the rockets and the technology used in them.”
