Junior School

By Mrs Whomsley (Head of Year 5)

Year 5 had an exciting morning on Wednesday 22nd November, as they joined their friends in Year 5 from Bedford Prep School. While half of the year group visited the boys’ school for a morning of problem-solving and teamwork, the remaining half stayed at school to welcome visitors here.

The pupils who visited Bedford Prep were tasked with working in teams to design a protective structure for an egg ‘character’, which was then tested by being launched off a balcony. One successful team managed to protect its egg without a single crack appearing on its shell! At BGS, the pupils continued our inquiry into exploration by using VR and Google Earth to explore the world, followed by a scavenger hunt in the library. Additionally, the girls introduced the boys to the game of netball and passed on their netball skills.

This marks the first of three events for this academic year that we have planned to bring together pupils from both schools. It was wonderful to see all the students communicating so well during their activities and enjoying the challenges set for them. We eagerly anticipate seeing our friends again in the Spring term!
