On Wednesday 6th December, we hosted a delightful Festive Lunch Club for elderly residents in our local community. The purpose of this Club is to foster social connections between Sixth Form students and the elderly, as they come together to enjoy a shared meal.
This Club has become a cherished tradition at our school, and we were thrilled to host it once again. This time, we had the pleasure of holding it in the Compass Room at BGS.
The afternoon was a huge success and really benefited everyone who attended. With Christmas carol singing, bingo and a Christmas raffle, the residents thoroughly enjoyed their time and are looking forward to our Easter Lunch Club - which will be both of our last times organising with Mrs Thompson (PA to the Assistant Heads).
We believe this event has made a significant impact on the community. Christmas is a time for people to come together, especially in environments where social isolation is more common. Therefore, we recognised the importance of this gathering for those in attendance. We're both enthusiastic about hosting our next Lunch Club and passing on our roles to those who will take on this opportunity next.
