By Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)
This week in Year 4, we have been learning about the beliefs and values of different religions, last week focusing on Muslims and the teachings of Islam.
This is part of the Transdisciplinary theme, How We Express Ourselves. In particular, the girls are developing an awareness of how values and beliefs can be expressed through art. This can include all forms of the Arts, including painting, drama and dance.
The girls have learned how Islamic art celebrates beautiful calligraphy and intricate geometric patterns decorated with contrasting colours. Class 4P created their own geometric patterns, after observing and reflecting on the patterns and colours shown in a variety of designs. They seized this opportunity to be creative and imaginative. Furthermore, these learnings align with World Hijab Day, which took place yesterday. The event during lunchtime allowed the girls to try on a hijab, ask questions and engage in discussions with their peers about the significance of wearing the hijab.
