By Mrs Inkson (Head of Year 6)
This week, Year 6 took part in an exciting school trip to Queen's Park in Bedford where our girls had the opportunity to explore different religious faiths. This outing was an essential part of our curriculum, focusing on understanding and appreciating the diversity of faiths in our community.
During the trip, the girls visited three places of worship representing Christianity, Islam and Sikhism. At each location, they learned about the beliefs, rituals and values of the respective faiths. Our main focus was on comparing the similarities between the religions, highlighting the shared values that unite them.
For instance, students discovered that concepts like prayer, community, compassion, and service are fundamental across Islam, Christianity and Sikhism. Despite differences in practices, these shared values were evident throughout our visits.
We're proud of the year group for their respectful and open-minded engagement during the trip. These experiences play an essential role in fostering empathy, understanding, and respect for diverse perspectives.
We will continue our exploration of different religions next half term where we will be welcoming in representatives from other religions including Judaism and Hinduism.
