By Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)

At the beginning of this summer term, Year 4 started their unit of inquiry with a real fizz! The girls will be exploring how materials can be changed and used in different ways. They began with a mini volcano made of clay, in which they mixed baking soda and vinegar to create a foaming stream of lava.

This provocation allows the pupils to engage in a fun activity that encourages questioning and allows them to make connections in their learning.

As the unit progresses, the girls will be able to reflect and consider the changes in matter and relate this to their learning about solids, liquids, and gases.
