Last week’s Mental Health Awareness Week has been a fantastic opportunity to highlight the importance of mental well-being and to equip our pupils with strategies and techniques for looking after their mental health. The last few weeks have been filled with engaging activities designed to connect, calm and inspire our pupils.

One of the standout activities was our weekly yoga lunchtime club, which saw enthusiastic participation from many pupils. Everyone connected their bodies, minds and breath through a series of powerful asanas and engaging partner poses. The yoga session concluded with a calming meditation.

Year 3 have also been particularly active in learning about their mental health. The afternoon sessions were dedicated to teaching various breathing techniques. One favourite was the "bear breath," which helped pupils feel calm and ready for their afternoon of learning. They also had the opportunity to share photos of activities and practices that bring them joy and happiness.

Additionally, the pupils created a personal positive message, including an inspiring quote or affirmation, to share with their peers. Messages like "Always believe in yourself," "Remember you are amazing just the way you are," "Always believe you can," "You are loved," "You are unique," and "You are safe" decorated the corridors.

Mental Health Awareness Week highlighted the importance of mental health for our pupils. Learning these skills early helps them stay happy, healthy and positive throughout their lives.
