On Saturday 8th June, all BGS rowing squads competed on home water at Star Regatta. The Regatta, hosted by our local club Star Club, sees crews compete on a 1200m course in ‘knockout’ style racing.
It was an incredibly successful day for Team BGS, with winning crews across every age group. Congratulations to the following crews: Year 9 Double, Year 10 Double, Year 10 Quad, Year 11 Four, Senior Four and 1st VIII.
In addition to this success, a special mention must go to our Year 8 Quad of Hattie Suthers, Amelia Fraser, Holly Feltham and Emma Robb, who in the capable hands of our senior cox, Alex Gentry, have been competing for the first time this season!
The support on the banks of the River Ouse was fantastic, and again we extend a huge thank you to the Friends of BGS Rowing, and everybody that came down to support our crews.
We now look forward to a more relaxed weekend, where rowers and their families will enjoy our garden party and rowing awards, before we head back out on the road for the final part of the regatta season, including Henley Women’s Regatta, Henley Royal Regatta, Thames Valley Park Regatta, Peterborough Junior Regatta and Huntingdon Regatta.
