Building Networking Skills

Whole School Community

As part of preparing our students for the wider world, we provide opportunities for our Sixth Formers to develop softer business skills and to step out of their comfort zones.

We run the Work The Room initiative each year for students in our Lower Sixth. The students attend a business networking workshop, led by our Head of Careers, Mrs Whitlock, herself a professional coach, helping them develop confident social networking skills and understanding the importance of making a good first impression.

The students then had an opportunity to practise in a reception style environment with members of the school community, including members of our alumnae and parent community, representing an array of interesting careers in Communications, AI, Physiotherapy, Law, Finance, Engineering, Banking, the British Armed Forces and Supply-Chain Management, to name just a few.

If you would be interested in helping next year, please contact Emma MacKenzie in The Alumnae Office by email, [email protected].

We are always very thankful to all our wonderful volunteers and keen to hear from a wide range of professional backgrounds to enable the students to have a really thought-provoking session.
