We are delighted to announce that talented artist Harriet Yuille (Year 8) has been awarded third place in this year’s Harpur Trust Children’s Art Competition in Category Three (ages 11-13 – Years 7-9).

The biennial art competition, organised by the Harpur Trust, is open to all schools across the borough. The judging took place last month, during which around 100 pieces of children’s artwork in various categories were selected to hang in The Higgins Gallery. These included pieces by Harriet and Ella Quirighetti (Year 9). This year’s theme is Together for Bedford, with Harriet being shortlisted in her category.

Harriet was invited to an awards ceremony at the end of last month and was able to see her work hung in The Higgins Gallery. Following the ceremony, she proudly received her award, celebrating her impressive achievement. You can view Harriet’s artwork [here].

The exhibition is open until Sunday 8th September, and further details can be found on the website here.

Mrs Lugsden (Head of Art and Textiles) said: “We are so thrilled for Harriet – what a fantastic achievement. She worked really hard on her piece over a number of weeks at Art Club and reflected creatively on the competition theme of community.”
