In late July, 48 enthusiastic Year 7 students embarked on an exciting watersports and activity trip to Wareham, Dorset.

The weather was hot, so applying suncream, drinking water and spending time in the water was high on the list of priorities. It set the tone for a fantastic week, during which, all the students enthusiastically participated in every activity, ranging from paddleboarding to tomahawk throwing to abseiling.

On the third day, we visited a water park and took part in a mud run. This was highly enjoyable as some of the staff got involved, and the students had a great time. On the final day, we travelled a short distance to Rockley Point to engage in a day of sailing. This included the students sailing a pico (a 2-person boat) and experiencing sailing on much larger boats (4 and 8-person boats).

The students took all the information on board and there was some fantastic sailing on display, as well as a few capsizes. Many of the students wanted to go out again – a truly fantastic time was had.

Emily (Year 8) said: “Dorset was loads of fun. I really enjoyed all of the activities, but my favourite has to be the stand up paddle boards because we could jump in and push staff off them. I also really enjoyed the day we went offsite to the water park and mud run. It was nice spending time with my friends not in school and working together as a team.”
