By Mr Castro (Head of Swimming)

On Sunday morning, ten of our swimmers participated in the Bedford Junior Aquathlon at Bedford Park. This continuous swim and run event featured different distances for each year group. The swim took place in Robinson Pool, while the run was around Bedford Park.

Year 3 was represented by Clara Breeze, who competed in the 66-metre swim and the 600 metre run. She won silver and finished as the third fastest in her age group.

Year 5 had an impressive seven athletes in action, competing in a 133-metre swim and a 1.2 kilometre run. Imogen Murphy won gold, placing third overall in her age group, which also included boys. Close behind her was Leah Edward-Vogt, who won bronze and achieved the fastest swim of the day, also against boys. Emma Morris placed 4th with the quickest swim in her age group, followed by Emilia Breeze in 6th, Esme Kelly in 8th, who impressed with the fifth fastest swim in her age group, Lily Cottier-Whitehead in 14th and Aylah Lalani in 16th.

In the Year 7 age group, Liliana Ferrari secured a commendable 9th place after her 200-metre swim and 1.9-kilometre run.

Finally, in the Year 8 age group, Eva won a bronze medal with the fastest swim of the day in her category, which also included boys. She swam 333-metres and ran 2.8 kilometres.

It was fantastic to see the BGS swimmers performing so well in the swim section of the race and experiencing a multi-sport event, often for the first time.
