This year we celebrate our 10th year as a School; a decade since the full merger of our heritage schools Dame Alice Harpur School and Bedford High School took place.

In November 2009 our parent trust, the Harpur Trust, announced that the new merged girls' school would be called Bedford Girls' School, and would be located on the former site of Dame Alice Harpur School. The Junior School opened in September 2010, the Senior School followed in September 2011 and the full merger was completed with the Sixth Form in September 2012.

With our new beginnings we were given the exciting opportunity to reimagine what a 21st century single-sex education should look like. How do you combine the experience and understanding of teaching girls with the latest pedagogy and technology to continue to be at the forefront of girls’ education.

Both of our heritage schools were founded in 1882 through the legacy of Sir William Harpur, at a time when a formal education was reserved for boys; we have always been pioneering and progressive.

At Bedford Girls' School, we continue to invest in forward-thinking education to serve the communities of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire.

We are incredibly proud of our history and our Alumnae continue to inspire us as role models for the next generation of creative-thinkers, change makers and problem solvers.
