Junior School Drama and Dance

Years 5 and 6 pupils had an early start on the first Friday of half-term (23rd October) when they spent the day at the National Theatre in the capital.

The morning was spent having a backstage tour of the theatre, where they saw the National Theatre team build the set for the production of Jane Eyre and testing the sound and lighting. The girls also saw where the sets were painted and props were made and they had the opportunity to try on costumes and handle props that had been used in actual productions at the National Theatre.

In the afternoon the girls took part in a performance skills workshop with a very energetic professional actor, and they even had the opportunity to perform some Shakespeare.

Mrs Perren, Head of Drama, said: “The day was a fantastic experience for everyone involved and the Drama Department plans to run a similar trip later this year.”
