Bedford Girls’ School pupil Lucy Keith (Year 10) has qualified for both the British Modern, and Schools’, Biathlon Championships.

Involving a 200m swim and 1600m run, with times for each discipline converted to points, Lucy won the Pentathlon GB Schools’ Biathlon Eastern Region Championships (U15 Girls category) by 100 points.

Held at Watford Woodside Leisure Centre, Lucy was lying in fifth place after the swimming leg, but recorded the fastest time for the running stage, after beating her nearest rival by over 30 seconds, to claim the overall win.

Lucy can now look forward to competing in the British Modern Biathlon Championships in Solihull next month, and the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon Championships at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in March.
