Last week (Thursday 25th – Friday 26th January 2018) BGS welcomed over 100 international visitors from France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Hong Kong to share best practice on how to integrate Apple iPad technology into the classroom.
BGS is a well-established and highly thought of school when it comes to technology use and the delegates were keen to understand how our girls were using it to benefit their studies. The visits started with a keynote from the Headmistress, Miss MacKenzie, a tour of the Junior and Senior Schools, a meet and greet with forms and finally keynotes on iTunes U from Mr Potter (Director of Digital Strategy) and multi-touch books from Miss Davies (Digital Design Creator).
It was interesting to hear about the different education systems: Luxembourg are giving an iPad to every secondary school pupil, and Hong Kong's schools have just started rolling out the devices to their students. The visitors where extremely impressed with the girls’ confidence in explaining how they use the iPad, the high standards that the girls were achieving and how our teachers were putting learning first when it came to technology integration.
Our status as an Apple Distinguished School allows us to have opportunities to meet and swap ideas with educators in other countries and create links, which will be beneficial going forward.
